“Toi Ten La - Dining” is a unique home dining experience where guests book their seats in advance and enjoy dinner at the chef’s private home. It’s a form of social dining, offering an opportunity to connect with strangers, share stories, and simply have a good time together.

At times, I team up with other F&B venues to create a more exciting and enjoyable experience for guests. I have collaborated with several bars in Ho Chi Minh City to develop a menu featuring wine and cocktail pairings—because why not? The picture above showcases my collaboration with Memento Bar.

Founded in Singapore in 2018, this concept was born out of my passion for cooking and hosting dinner gatherings. It primarily serves authentic Vietnamese cuisine, showcasing the rich flavors and cultural heritage of Vietnam beyond the well-known dishes like pho and banh mi. The goal is to share the food I grew up with, the meals my mother would prepare for our family, and to introduce non-Vietnamese guests to the heart of our culture.

“Toi Ten La - Dining” tells a story: the story of a Vietnamese son eager to share with others, the story of his grandmother, and a reflection on how we’ve lost the art of meaningful conversation at the dining table. “Toi Ten La” means “My name is” in Vietnamese, a simple phrase that opens the door to new conversations, connections, and perhaps even lasting friendships. I created this experience to bring people together, offering a space to unwind, enjoy delicious food and wine, and create lasting memories in a cozy, intimate setting. After every meal, we spark something new.

My experience in graphic design has taught me a great deal about creative thinking and storytelling. I’ve learned that designs should not only be visually appealing but also carry meaning, evoke a narrative, and connect with the audience on some level. I apply these insights and skills to my cooking. Each dinner I host revolves around a specific theme, and the menu reflects that theme, guiding guests on a unique journey that unfolds different stories from beginning to end. Through these dining experiences, I aim to share the richness of Vietnamese culture and vibrant cuisine, highlighting what I enjoyed in my daily life while growing up.
